UPDATE RE GLS 2020
We are excited to be able to share what this year’s Summit experience will look like, and look forward to receiving your booking.
The GLS 2020 will be a 1-day online experience
In light of prevailing uncertainties around COVID-19 and our duty of care, the GLN UK & Ireland Board has taken the decision to cancel all GLS regionally hosted videocast events. We are now prioritising a digital GLS experience in a 1-day format.
We understand that the cancellation of your regional event will come as disappointing news. We know that the GLS is a highlight of the year for you and others, because of its leadership content, the community it provides and the first-class service you receive from your host church.
However, we trust that you understand why the decision has been made and hope you will be excited by the new GLS format.
The decision to make it a 1-day experience is based upon survey results from UK and Irish participants, where various possible formats for experiencing the GLS online were offered.
A closer look at the online experience
Over the past few months, you may have had the opportunity to participate in the exceptional live online GLSnext sessions, enabling you to connect in a new and closer way with former GLS speakers, including Craig Groeschel, Juliet Funt, Sheila Heen, Henry Cloud, Danielle Strickland and Patrick Lencioni.
You may also have joined in with the recent Leadership Webinar series by GLN UKI, providing new connections and learning opportunities with like-minded leaders in the UK and Ireland.
What these offerings have taught us about leadership content delivery has been exciting and refreshing in equal measure. Some of the benefits include:
- experiencing wider community interaction
- insight from a greater diversity of voices
- a dynamic environment for sharing ideas
- encouragement from new connections
Just like the physical space, gathering together around quality teaching produces fresh ideas, actionable content and heartfelt inspiration.
This is what is so exciting about the GLS 2020 – it will provide you with an online community experience gathered around outstanding content. The peer-to-peer interactions and quality teaching will be facilitated by online hosts to provide an experience that will equip and inspire your leadership for the weeks and months ahead.
The line-up this year is exceptional and the US GLN team have rightly decided that because the content will be delivered digitally, the format will be different. The talks will be shorter and the content will be varied to maintain interest.
What will be accessible on your preferred device?
- World-class speakers to inspire you
- Specialised content to equip you
- Facilitated discussion to help you process key takeaways
- Peer-to-peer interactions via ‘chat’ and ‘breakouts’ to stimulate your thinking and make connections
- Online/downloadable notes and tools to consolidate your learning
And all of this will be part of a powerful 1-day experience on the following dates:
- Friday 9 October
- Thursday 15 October
- Wednesday 28 October
- Tuesday 3 November
- Friday 6 November
- Friday 13 November
- Saturday 14 November
Regarding registration, tickets need to be booked on an individual basis in order to attend and take part in the interactive elements of the events.
In addition to a focus on maximising your leadership, the GLS 2020 will be delivered at unbeatable value.
The GLS 2020 is free – you can partner in the cause through an optional donation
We have decided not to charge you for your GLS ticket this year, but to ask for your partnership in the GLN cause through a donation. This approach has been largely inspired by the team at Spring Harvest, who provided a similar model earlier in the year.
Whether you are able to donate or not, our commitment is to provide you with two things:
- The GLS 2020 Online Experience this autumn
- GLN Partnership (formerly Membership) providing access to our online resources all year round, including past GLS talks and webinar sessions
How your donation will help
A donation will support the cause of the GLS and its year-round resources in the UK and Ireland for another year and hopefully beyond.
We need Christians in the UK and Ireland to cast vision for a better future and lead the way with courage and integrity. To this end, the GLS provides fresh and actionable leadership content every year. It equips and inspires us to become better leaders and use our influence for good – so that everyone wins when the leader gets better.
Whatever you can afford, we would be delighted with your partnership – every penny will help.
The suggested donation we are making public as we begin this campaign is £50 per person. If we achieve a similar attendance to previous years, this level of investment per person will support the cause of GLN in the UK & Ireland in 2021 and into 2022.
Another way you can partner in the cause
We would also ask for your partnership in making the GLS 2020 widely known and to actively encourage those within your circle of influence to attend. There are a number of resources you can use to help you share via email, on your website, and via social media:
The GLS 2020 will be 1-day online experience this October-November. Booking for the GLS 2020 is free of charge and provides you the benefit of GLN Partnership, with online access to year-round resources.
You can also partner in the cause of equipping and inspiring Christian leaders by making an optional donation and raising awareness of the GLS 2020 Online Experience.
We hope this provides you with all the information you need – and we hope to see you online at the GLS for outstanding experience this Autumn.
With my very best wishes
