Talking about Race: Difficult Conversations that Lead to Change  | 18 June 2020 | 4:30-5:30pm

Sheila Heen speaks at a GLSnext Event

GLSnext Coaching Event with Sheila Heen | 18 June 2020 | 4:30-5:30pm

Sheila Heen will be joined by her colleague, Morgan Franklin, LIVE online Thursday, June 18, 2020, as we shift to engage the pressing questions of racial injustice in our culture. Learn from these two Harvard Law School faculty and difficult conversations specialists. Drawing from their extensive experience talking about difficult issues across conflicting and diverse perspectives, we will explore the complexities of talking across differences. Walk away with practical tools and best practices for engaging those around you as we navigate the highly-charged topic of race in America.

In a world where complex challenges get simplified into slogans or soundbites and nuance is avoided at all costs, some of the questions they will address include:

  • Why is talking about race so hard AND so important?
  • Where do our stories about ourselves—and each other—come from?
  • Why does meaningful long-term change depend on each of us being in conversation with each other? And what is the role of leaders within organisations and communities around the world?
  • What does it mean to pursue truth in this context?
  • How do conflicting feelings, listening for intentions, and sharing impact move us into a powerful position to drive change?

Get your questions ready for the Q&A discussion with Sheila Heen and Morgan Franklin, hosted by returning GLS faculty, Danielle Strickland. This is a don’t-miss-event to equip and encourage you as you lead strong in this challenging season.
